Ronald James Bain was born on 11th January 1912 in Petersham, New South Wales, Australia.
He was the son of James Bain and Alice Hargreaves. [1][2]
On 18th December 1941, just days after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor and invasion of Malaya, Ronald enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force, his nation's overseas expeditionary force for the Second World War. He was posted to the 2/109th Australian General Transport Company as a Driver and was discharged on 17th November 1945; the war won. His next-of-kin was listed as Rubina Bain.

Ronald married fellow Second World War veteran Enid Carmichael on 5th August 1950 in Sydney, New South Wales. [3]
Ronald J Bain died on 15 Jul 1993 and has a memorial in the New South Wales Garden of Remembrance, Rookwood, New South Wales.
