Biography
Ruby was the only child of Harvey Ray Bailey and Lillian Jane Baker.[1]
She was aged 5 in 1910.[2]
Hazel R. Bailey was aged 15 in 1920.[3]
She married Arthur Denzil Hitt 23 May 1923 at Weston, Lewis, West Virginia. His occupation was cook.[4]
In 1930, listed as married, Ruby H. Hitt age 25 was living in her father's household with children: Betty J Hitt, age 6; Charles R. Hitt age 5 and James M Hitt, age 3. Also in the household was her cousin Robert E Baker, age 14.[5]
The census taker spelled the surname Kitt in 1940. Ruby was married and living with her parents; her children were in the household. Elizabeth [H]itt was age 16; Charles R [H]itt was age 14; James M [H]itt was age 13 and Fredrick B [H]itt was age 5. [6]
Ruby died of pneumonia due to influenza at Weston Hospital, 6 April 1947.[7]
Research Notes
A Charles Ray Hitt married Iris Faye Kessinger 11 Aug 1956 in Mercer County, West Virginia. No marriage license found; however, the marriages ledger states he was age 31 and born at Camden, West Virginia. This fits the profile for son Charles R. Hitt. Iris Faye Kessinger was age 22 born at Speedway, Mercer, West Virginia.[8] Their daughter Kimberly Diane Hitt Damiano Burns was the wife of Anthony Ernest Damiano of Waverly, NY. They were the parents of Stephen Anthony Damiano, b 1 Dec 1986 at Latrobe, PA and died 12 May 2008.[9] Iris Faye later married a Keaton. She was living in Pipestem, Summers, WV in 2002.[10]
