Biography

The son of William Bailey and Rena (Bilby) Bailey, Dean was born in Ida Township in 1932. His father died of pneumonia the next year and he and his brother, and mother, went to live with his grandfather in Cambridge Township, in Tipton, Michigan.[1]

Dean Fay Bailey January 17th, 1932 to June 29th, 2006. United States Army Corporal Dean enlisted for a 3 year contract on January 16th, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan SN: 16355759 and after basic training he underwent signal corp supply technician school from March 1951 to May 1951 and during that time on May 16th, 1951 he was promoted to E-2 Private but during his 2 years 10 months and 10 days of Army service 1 year 1 month and 27 days of it was spent overseas serving in the Korean War, in which he participated in 4 campaigns. Dean enlisted in the United States Army on January 16, 1951 and was discharged on November 25, 1953.[2] He received the Purple Star and four Bronze Star medals.[3]

Dean married three times. He first married Marjorie Ann Loveland (1934-1997), the daughter of Donald Loveland and Marie Bear, marrying in Adrian, Michigan on August 30, 1952.[4] He later married Joyce A. (1939-1966), with whom he had two children.

He was employed as a machine operator at American Chain & Cable Company in Adrian for 35 years and owned and operated Dean's Antenna Service for 40 years.[3] He later married Wanda (Dopp) Poling, marrying in Adrian in 1985. He passed away at the age of 74 and is buried at Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, Michigan.[5]
