John Alexander Badgery was born in 1835 in New South Wales, Australia, the fourth son of Henry Badgery.[1] John's mother was Henry's second wife, he having been previously widowed, Mary Anne Reilley.
He was christened in 1836 in New South Wales.[2]
John married Emily Fulljames in 1862 in New South Wales.[3] His younger brother, Andrew, married Emily's younger sister, Rebecca, four years later.

Emily died in 1881.
John remarried in 1882 in Sydney, New South Wales, to Ann Fox.[4] Their children were:
John's Sutton Forest home, Ivy Hall, was known as one of the "cream of the establishments".[5]
John died on 8 May 1916 at Moss Vale, New South Wales. His remains were buried with several Badgery family members in All Saints churchyard, Sutton Forest.[6][7]
