Birth

According to her marriage record, which says that she was 34 years old at the time of her marriage in 1855, Ann Maria Babson was born at Gloucester, Massachusetts, about 1821, the daughter of Theodore Babson.^[1] There is no record of her birth in the published vital records of Gloucester, and her age differs substantially from her age on her gravestone, which says she was 65 when she died in 1880^[2] (thus born about 1815) and her age in her death record, which says she was 70 at her death^[3] (thus born about 1810). The 1860 census gives her age as 38^[4] (thus born about 1822). The 1865 Massachusetts state census gives her age as 49^[5] (thus born about 1816). The 1870 U. S. census gives her age as 51^[6] (thus born about 1819).

Ann Maria Babson and Joel Coolidge, both of Cambridge, Massachusetts, married there on 2 Apr 1855.^[1]

Death

Ann Maria Babson died at Somerville, Massachusetts, on 20 Aug 1880, with her age reported as 70.^[3] Her gravestone at the Waters Hill Cemetery in Livermore, Maine, shows her death date as 20 Aug 1880 and her age at her death as 65.^[2]
