Joseph Wilson Baber was born on December 21, 1913 in Beckley, Raleigh County, West Virginia.[1] His father was Emmette Walter Baber and his mother was Mattie A. Wilson.[2]
In 1920, he lived on Oakwood Avenue in Beckley, Raleigh County, West Virginia.[2]
In 1930, he lived on Chestnut Street in Mabscott, Raleigh County, West Virginia.[3]
Joseph married Ellen Walker Honea on July 9, 1934 in Raleigh County, West Virginia.[4][5]
In 1940, he lived in Mabscott, Raleigh County, West Virginia. He worked as a truck driver for Raleigh Coca Cola Bottling Works. He had work 44 weeks out of the year and earned $1,200 annually. He was living with his mother and apparently separated from his wife.[6] At age 46, he stood 5 feet and 8 inches tall, weighed about 135 pounds, had a light complexion, with brown hair and brown eyes.[1]
Joseph's wife divorced him on November 22, 1943 in Norfolk, Norfolk County, Virginia.[4] He married Mary Jane Ramsey, formerly White, on August 29, 1944 in Richmond, Virginia.[7]
Joseph died on February 17, 1998 in Henrico County, Virginia.[8] He was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum in Richmond, Henrico County, Virginia.[9]
