R Adams: That is the book that I got the info from, but I just found the snippets like you did. Maybe the book is available online, as it is old. But, I do not have a copy of the original.

Hi Terry,

I just posted a reply to Molly Reppen in Amos Babcock's profile (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-7411) but maybe you can help us?

Was the book you mentioned recently with info about Amos Babcock, Elizabeth Brand, and Elizabeth Larkin called: "Edward Larkin of Rhode Island" by Elizabeth Brock Larkin. If so I can see snippetts, but can't read much due to copyright.

If you have access to parts of it, we would love to see or hear a summary of pages 58-60, especially where she found sources to corroborate the relationships of Amos to his parents. This could be a big break through on that line if her sources are acceptable. I did find the unindexed Charlestown Town Records online which may eventually help us to confirm the work in that more recent book.

Thanks for your comments. I took the Big Y test at the urging of Kent Babcock. We share no autosomal DNA but are nearly exact matches on Y DNA. We are 7th cousins, twice removed. It proved to me that we are both descended from John Babcock and Mary Lawton. It is now even more interesting to see that you and I also share some autosomal DNA this far down the tree. Thanks for the link.. I will pursue it.

Thank you so much for posting your Y-DNA results and your GEDmatched Autosomal results.

I noticed that the Y-DNA results not only migrate up your direct lineage on the wikitree profiles, but then come back down any male lines from your earliest male ancestor. It is really an impressive number of profiles that now have the E-FT216584 Y-DNA designation. You should be able to see the list from this link that I found in one of the pull down tabs about DNA. It's really cool how the automated system is working with your results :

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?filterId=&filterType=yDNA&title=Special%3ADNATests&s=BABCOCK&order=name

p.s. From Gedmatch I can see we have a 7.3 cm autosomal match, and wikitree's "relationship to me" button shows we are 7th cousins. Our more Recent Common ancestors seem to be John Babcock b. 1644 and his wife Mary Lawton!
