Biography
Jean Baptiste was born 18 Oct 1778 and was baptized the next day in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. He was the son of Raphael Bérubé and Marie Anne Pelletier. Godparents were Jean Baptiste Pelletier (signature) and Marie Josephe Vézina wife of André Bérubé. [1]
On 8 Feb 1802, in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Jean Baptiste Berubé adult son of Raphael Berubé and Marie Anne Judite Peltier married Marie Anne Leclair adult daughter of the late Etienne Leclerc dit Francoeur and Marguerite Elizabeth Fournier. Witnesses included the groom's father, no signatures. [2]
On 26 Apr 1831, in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Jean Baptiste Berubé widower of Marie Anne Leclerc married Gertrude Mignier adult daughter of the late Pierre Mignier and Gertrude Ouellette. Witnesses included the groom's brother in law Bénoni Leclerc, no signatures. [3]
- No children from this marriage were themselves married in Québec.
No burial record has been identified for his second wife, Gertrude Mignier dite Lagacé. They were likely living in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. Several of his children ended up establishing in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies, in particular his son François, and Jean Baptiste Bérubé may have moved to Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies. If the following is his burial record his second wife is not mentioned:
- Jean Baptiste Berubé, 88 year old widower of Marie Anne Leclerc, died 7 May 1859. He was buried 2 days later in Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies cemetery. Present at the burial was a François Bérubé, unknown relationship to the deceased and no signature.
