Biography

Alan Featherston Aylesworth was born on 9 August 1880 inToronto, York, Ontario, Canada^[1][2] as the son of Allen Bristol Aylesworth and Adelaide Augusta Miller.

In 1881, Alan was living in Toronto, York, Ontario^[3].

Alan married Ellen Elizabeth Gladys Burton on 20 February 1906 in Toronto, York, Ontario^[4].

During World War I, he served as a major in the 95th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was a barrister and had served in the militia at the time he signed up in September 1915. He served in Canada and on the headquarters staff in London, England, before being invalided home with tobacco amblyopia, a form of toxic amblyopia caused by tobacco containing cyanide.^[5]

He died on 24 August 1919 in Barrie General Hospital, Barrie, Ontario^[6][7].and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario^[8][9].
