Private Oscar F. Ayers died on 5 Apr 1862 at Savannah, Tennessee as a result of disease. He was initially buried in Shiloh Battlefield or hospital cemetery in Tennessee. He was later reinterred at Shiloh National Cemetery, plot 2946, section M.[2]
