Clark Moulton Avery was a graduate of the University of North Carolina. Farmer near Morgantown. Elected to State Council in 1856. Delegate to North Carolina Secession Convention. Colonel of the 33rd North Carolina Infantry Regiment in the American Civil War.[1] Died of wounds received in the Battle of the Wilderness.[2][3]
He married 23 Jan 1841 at Morganton, North Carolina, Elizabeth Tilghman Walton [b. 3 Jan 1823 @ Morganton, N. Carolina, daughter of Thomas and Martha (McEntire) Walton; d. 25 Oct 1882 near Morganton]. They had 10 children:

Final resting place in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina.[4]
