He married Ida Bell Murphy (1928-2015) on 14 April 1947 in Lafayette County, Mississippi, United States.^[1]

William died on 27 Apr 2004 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio aged 78 and is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, Ohio.^{[2] [3]}
