Fred (shown as Friedrich) emigrated to the United States, leaving from Bremen aboard the SS Chemnitz March 28, 1908 and arriving April 12, 1908 in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States. He traveled with his mother, his cousin, Moses Auerbach, and three brothers, Josef, Max, and Abe. They planned to join Fred's father and oldest brother, Nathan, who were living at 34 Garitson (?) St. in Manhattan, New York.[2]
In 1910, sixteen year old Fred lived at 221 East 66th Street in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States with his father Barnett (age 44), mother Frieda (age 39), and brothers Nathan (age 18), Joseph (age 14), Max (age 10), and Abraham (age 8). His father worked for a store as a driver, Nathan was an electrician in a shop, and Fred was a button maker in a shop.[3]
Fred lived at 990 Second Avenue when he filed his declaration of intention to become a United States citizen July 8, 1915. He was a grocer and was 5' 5" tall, weighed 190 lbs., and had brown hair and brown eyes.[4]
Fred lived at 873 First Avenue in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States when he registered for the World War I draft June 17, 1917. He owned a grocery store at 990 2nd Ave in Manhattan and had previously declared his intention of becoming a United States citizen. Although Fred was single, he requested draft exemption as sole support of his parents and claimed to have rheumatism.[5]
Fred was a manufacturer living at 873 First Avenue in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States when he became a naturalized United States citizen June 25, 1920. His petition was witnessed by Henry Frieder, a manufacturer, and his wife Ruth Frieder, of 316 East 50th Street in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States and were likely relatives of his fiancée, Ruth Frieder.[6]
Fred marriedRuth Frieder October 17, 1920 in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States[7]
and they had at least three children (see Notes).
The family lived in Patterson, Passaic, New Jersey, United States for some time,[8]
later moving back to Manhattan, New York, United States.[9][11]
Fred died in Manhattan, New York, United States October 31, 1972 and was buried in the Union Field Cemetery in Ridgewood, Queens, New York, United States[10]
