Biography

Alfred was born in 1855 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. His parents were Enoch Atnip and Martha Ann Allen. Alfred married Elizabeth Robinson 2 Jan 1881 in DeKalb County, Tennessee.

He passed away in 1937 and would be buried at the Whorton Springs Cemetery in Smithville, DeKalb County, Tennesse

ALF ATNIP GOES TO HIS REWARD

Mr. Alf Atnip, aged 82 years, died at his home on Holmes Creek Sunday. He had been in bad health for a long time, but was able to be out until Friday of last week. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. L. Whitlock. A short service was held at the Whorton Springs Baptist Church, and interment was in the Whorton Springs Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, nine daughters, Mrs. A. J. Fuson, Mrs. J. N. Gill, Mrs. Dave Spencer, Mrs. Nora Taylor, Mrs. Grace McGinness, Mrs. Bertha Brent, Mrs. Hassie Taylor, Mrs. Haskel Taylor of Kansas; Mrs. Nora Taylor; two sons, Herschel and Clarence Atnip; sixty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. A son and six grandchildren preceded him to grave.

Mr. Atnip was a substantial farmer and livestock dealer, and was esteemed by all who knew him. He lived a long life of usefulness, and his influence for good was felt by many. March 25, 1937
