Maria was born in 1841. She is the daughter of Frank Athmer and Margaret Koetter.[1] She passed away in 1917. [2]
Sometime in the 1860s, she married Bernhard Wittkamp.[3] They had three sons, all of whom passed away in infancy. Their names were Heinrich,[4]Herman,[5][6]and Bernhardt.[7] Her first husband, Bernhard, then passed away in 1872.[8]
In 1873, Maria married Frank/Franz Kuper.[9] They also had three children, the first two of whom passed away in infancy. These children were named Friedrich,[10] Catharine,[11] and Frank.[12] Her second husband passed away around the time their third child was born.[13] After this second husband passed, Maria was doing the work of farming herself, to support herself and her surviving son.[14]
In 1881, Maria married her third husband, Bernard Heimann.[15] The couple had one child, John, who passed away within a month of his birth.[16] When this husband, too, passed away in 1895,[17] Maria kept going, and kept working as a farmer, to support herself.[18]
