WEST HILL

West Hill, Feb. 23.—Again the death angel has entered our midst and taken another one of our neighbors. Mrs. Ann Tryon passed away at her home early Sunday morning aged 74 years. She had been in poor health for several years but had been confined to her bed for the past few weeks. She was most tenderly cared for by her daughter Miss Katherine Tryon to whom we express our heartfelt sympathy.

Ann Atherton Tryon, the oldest daughter of Harry and Abigail Jackson Tryon, was born at the Atherton home on this hill and passed away in the same room in which she was born. Her girlhood days were spent in this place. She was united in marriage to Nelson Tryon after which they resided in Norwich for several years, where his death occurred many years ago. Later she returned to keep house for her brother Darius Atherton who was alone in the old home, and she has since been our neighbor.

Besides the daughter who is now left alone, she is survived by a sister Mrs. Charles Dyer, of Norwich, and two brothers, Silas Atherton of Preston and Elijah Atherton of Norwich.

Funeral services were held at the South New Berlin Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. M. R. Weaver officiating. The body was placed in the vault, awaiting vurial in the spring.

Thy way, not mine, oh God

However dark it be;

O, lead me by thine own right hand,

Choose thou the path for me;

Dearest mother now hast left me,

And her loss I deeply feel

But I know that Thou will comfort

And our deepest sorrows heal.[2]
