Biography

Jane Atherton was born in about 1814 in Prescot, Lancashire.

Jane's son Thomas Atherton was christened on 22 Apr 1832 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. When Thomas later married, his father's name was recorded as John Hunt in the marriage record. At the time of his baptism, Thomas and his mother were living in Prescot.

Jane married John Hunt on 26 Oct 1834 at Rainford Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish, and neither had been married before. John was a collier. The witnesses were Isaac Jones and John Jonson?

Their daughter Mary was christened on 17 Jan 1836 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as collier, and the family's address as Eccleston.

Their son Henry was christened on 18 Jul 1838 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as collier, and the family's address as Eccleston.
