• 1628 Eleanor Atherton daughter of John Atherton and his wife Eleanor Ireland was baptised at Leigh, 26 February 1627/8 ^[1]
• married Robert Clayton (d. 1664) of [1] (Lancs) ^[2]
• 1674 approximately death of husand Robert
• 1682 died and buried at Broughton (Lancs), 17 July 1682.
• Issue - four sons and four daughters;

• History of Parliament suggests son William inherited in 1664 but this seems unlikely if the elder son Thomas was a Barrister at Law in 1674 as per Stewart-Brown.
