Biography

Ole Aspevig has Norwegian ancestors

Ole Aspevig migrated from Minnesota, USA to Manitoba, Canada.

Ole was born in 1880. He is the son of Peter Aspevig and Mari Syverson.

He served as Secretary-Treasurer of Pearce School District #1981 from 1920-1931.^[1]

His granddaughter Eileen Laing remembered that the grandkids called Ole "Mousey Grandpa" as he had a little trick he'd play with the kids with a handkerchief that looked like a mouse when he folded it up.

She also remembered that there wasn't much Norwegian spoken but he would sing "Ride Ride Ranke" with the kids - and the family enjoyed card games of Norwegian whist.

He passed away in 1964. Ole is buried in Manitou Cemetery in Manitou, Manitoba.^[2]
