Isaac Ashley was born on April 13, 1747 in Rochester, Plymouth County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of Thomas Ashley (1705–<1762) and Phoebe Freeman (1711–<1749).

Isaac married Olive Howe (born on January 5, 1750 in New Marlborough, Berkshire, Massachusetts; daughter of Nehemiah Howe and Beulah (Wheeler) Howe).^[1] Their children were:

• Luranea Ashley (1768–1839)
• Elisha Ashley (1776–1857)

Isaac died on April 17, 1777, aged 30.^{[2] [3]}
