Vera was born 19 September 1921, in Raleigh, Navarro, Texas, United States. She was the daughter of Robert Ashford and Gertrude Petty. She married James Donald Muir Sr in 1943. She lived in Justice Precinct 1, Navarro, Texas, United States in 1940 and Justice Precinct 5, Bell, Texas, United States in 1940. She died in an automobile accident involving a train on 25 August 1951, in Justice Precinct 2, Tarrant, Texas, United States, at the age of 29, and was buried in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas, Texas, United States.
