Military Service

Corporal Reginald Bartley Ashe enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the 19th of August 1914. His Next of Kin was listed as Mrs Mary Ann Ashe, of 24 Halifax Street, Middle Brighton, Victoria. He states Previous military service with the 26th Signal Company Army Engineers. He was assigned to the Divisional Signal Company 1, and this unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A10 Karroo on 20 October 1914. He was later Commissioned and served as a Captain with the 4th Divisional Signal Company. He would go on to be Mentioned in Despatches, recommended for the Croix de Guerre and finally was awarded the Military Cross (Source for nomination: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 219 Date: 20 December 1917.) Receiving his Military Cross in April 1918. (Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 57. Date: 18 April 1918)
Reginald Ashe is an Anzac who served in World War One.
