Came from Berkshire, England in 1649 to Calvert Co., Md., and recieved a grant of 300 acres at Point Patience, for transporting himself, his wife, four sons, and six servants to the Province of Maryland. "Early Families of Southern Md., Volume 3", pages 211-219, says he was granted 250 ac. in Virginia 6 Mar 1638 and 829 ac. in Upper Norfolk Co., Va. on 7 Oct 1646 before moving to Md. He owned several tracts of land in Md. including one in Dorchester Co. called Ascombs Purchase, later called Ascombs Island, today known as Asquith Island.
