Marvin Arrington was a judge in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia, and an Atlanta, Georgia politician.[1]
Marvin Arrington was born in 1941. He was the son of George Arrington, a truck driver, and Maggie Andrews, a domestic worker.
He had two children, a son and a daughter, by his ex-wife Marilyn (Jones) Arrington. Both became attorneys.
He passed away in 2023.[2]
Marvin was one of the first two Black students at Emory University Law School.[2] He graduated in 1967 and in 1969 was elected to the Atlanta Board of Aldermen in 1969.[3] The Board of Alderman became the City Council.
He served as president of the Atlantic City Council for nearly twenty years.[2]
Marvin ran for mayor of Atlanta in 1997 but lost to Bill Campbell.[4]
He was appointed to the Fulton County (Georgia) Superior Court.
