Biography

Caleb, the son of Benedict Arnold and Damaris Westcott, was "borne the 19th December Ano. 1644 about 8 clock in the Evening."

Born at Newport, December 19, 1644. He was a physician and surgeon, and a prominent man in the community, being deputy to the General Assembly for a number of years. He was also a captain of a military company which served in the Colonial Wars with the Indians, and his death occurred February 9, 1719. He married Abigail Wilbur, June 10, 1666

Our second son we named Caleb, he was borne the 19th December 1644, about 8 o'clock in the evening. We named him Caleb in memory of that worthy Caleb which only accompanied Joshua into ye Land of Pro­mise, of all ye came out of Egypt.

Caleb Arnold was married to Abigail Wilbur upon the 10th Day of June,1666.

Caleb Arnold, first child being a son, was borne on Friday morning about 8 o'clock; it being the last day of May 1667; named William.

Caleb Arnold, second child being a daughter & called Penelope was born Tuesday the 3d day of August, 1669.

Caleb Arnold's third child, a son named Josiah, was born December 26th ,1671, & died the 17th of March 1673.
