Biography

Edward was born on 27 August 1819 and christened on 13 October 1919 in Honley, West Yorkshire.^[1] He was the son of Joseph and Ann Armitage.^[1][2]

Edward married Eliza Ann Calrow in Bury, Lancashire, on 5 July 1848.^[3]

He was a borough and county magistrate, president of the Huddersfield Club, and an officer of the 2nd West Yorkshire Yeomanry Cavalry.^[4] He was initiated a Freemason in 1844, and was appointed Provincial Grand Master in 1869.^[4]

Edward died on 3 January 1907 at his residence in Edgerton Hill, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.^[4]
