He was a borough and county magistrate, president of the Huddersfield Club, and an officer of the 2nd West Yorkshire Yeomanry Cavalry.[4] He was initiated a Freemason in 1844, and was appointed Provincial Grand Master in 1869.[4]
Edward died on 3 January 1907 at his residence in Edgerton Hill, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.[4]
