Biography

Christening, Aug 1746, VA, York Co., Charles Parish

1772 Middlesex County, Virginia: From my cousin Anne Virginia "Jean" Agnew's papers at The Library of Virginia - Richmond, VA:

"Middlesex G. B. B. 2 p. 39.: Aug. 2, 1772 - bond of John Miller and Anderson Miller, adms. of the est. of Ann Miller." I think Ann Miller here was Anne (Armistead) Miller who apparently past away about the time of the birth of her and this John Miller's son Armistead Miller. Anderson Miller was John Miller's brother who was also an administer of Anne (Armistead) Miller's estate in Aug., 1772 with her husband John Miller.

I am assuming this is the Armistead that John Miller (b- 1746) married given one of his sons was named Armistead Miller and the Miller's had properties at least at one time only a few miles from Charles Parish, York County, Virginia (one property purchased in 1637 and one in 1648; both in York County, VA). The property purchased in 1637 (100 acres) appears to have been sold maybe around 1720 given a statement in a 3/11/1736/1737 will of a Lawrence Smith notes a 100 acre section known as "Miller's field" (with mill pond near Wormeley's Creek; which is where the Miller property was located). Assume the name Miller was associated with this property maybe a few tens of years after it was sold by the Millers. The second property (150 acres) was 2 to 3 miles from Charles Parish and could have been owned by the Millers into the mid 1700's (where our 1st Miller in America was buried (James Miller of Scotland b- abt. 1609).
