Biography

Her parents were Pieter Aries and Maaike Kuijpers , she was named after her grandmother Maaike Elizabeth. She was a grand daughter of a very well known Dutch painter and artist Jan Kuijpers

2. Cato Aries (26 y) , she married Oktober 11,1922 , Paulus Jan Straver (35 y) born at Vlissingen and son of Paulus Jan Straver and Neeltje Eekman (Witnesses were Johan Willem Kuijpers 65 years of age and uncle of the Bride and Teunis Damen 35 years of age and brother in law of the Bride) ^[4]

Maaike arrived in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada in June 1915, passenger on the ship named "Scandinavian". The immigration entry also has the stamp "GONE TO U.S.A."^[11] She immigrated to the US from Canada where she was a servant for an Admiral in the British Navy. She arrived in Port Huron, Michigan in April 1916.^[12]

Death

Maaike Elizabeth died from complications of MS and a broken heart. She lost two of her son's in the second world war. Cornelius and Peter. She passed away March 31, 1950 in Boise, Ada, Idaho, United States.^[13]
