LTC Lee Archer served as a US military pilot during World War II. He was one of the “Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen.” The Tuskegee Airmen were known for heroic combat service in support of Allied Forces in the European Theater. They served with the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group, both largely Black units of the United States Army Air Forces. LTC Archer flew in 138 missions and was credited with bringing down 10 German planes.
Lee Andrew Archer Jr. was born in 1919.[1] He was the son of Lee Archer Sr. and May Piper.
He enlisted in the US Army in January 1942.[2]
He became a member of the Tuskegee Airmen when the program became available. His complete military biography and awards can be seen here.
He passed away in 2010 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.[3] [4][5]

Lee Andrew Archer Jr., Tuskegee Airman in World War II, was born on September 6, 1919 in Yonkers, New York. His father was Lee Archer, Sr. and his mother was May Piper Archer. He was raised in Harlem and attended New York Citys Dewitt Clinton High School. In 1941, he left New York University where he was majoring in international relations to join the military.
