In 1952, Arnes was involved in a court case in which the person who purchased a hotel from him sued to cancel the contract, citing that he mispresented the capacity and earning capacities of the hotel. After several hearings and appeals, the judge refused to cancel the purchase contract. [13] [14] [15]

Death

Arnes passed away on March 3, 1969 in Spokane, Washington. [16][17][18] He is buried in Pines Cemetery, Spokane, Washington. [19]
