Biography

Robert Edward Vaughan Arbuthnot was born in 1871. He was the son of Robert Arbuthnot and Mary Vaughan.

He was baptized on 19 February 1871 in Sempringham, in the Aslackby district, Lincolnshire, England (United Kingdom).

At the time of the 1871 census, he was a baby, three months old, living with his family in the Sempringham vicarage. ^[1]

He married Ethel Mary Wyndham, daughter of Major Charles Wyndham and Charlotte Maria Anketell-Jones, on 19 April 1899. They had one daughter.

Robert Arbuthnot was in the Indian Civil Service, and the Commissioner of Settlements and Land Records, Burma, between 1915 and 1919. He held the office of Finance Commissioner of Burma in 1919.

He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Star of India (CSI), in 1922.

He died in 1922.
