Rosanna Doull (or Andrew), daughter of Joseph Doull and Elizabeth Andrew, was born in 1813 and baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 27 December 1813 (or 1815). The manner of Rosanna's baptism record indicates that her parents were not married at the time of her baptism.^[1] Rosanna's baptism was subsequently recorded again in Watten on 27 December 1815 (the year is probably a transcription error) where Joseph Doull's name is recorded as her father, but no mother's name is recorded. Joseph's residence (and that of Roseanna) was given as Wester Watten, Caithness. Other Doull families are recorded as living in Wester Watten in the first half of the 1800s.^[2]
