I was born in Louisiana, and raised across the south, as Dad worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration—later called the Federal Aviation Administration—so we moved every three to five years. We returned to Texas a second time where I graduated from high school. Then after college , I worked for the army as a researcher. Having retired, I live in New Jersey, where I serve on the board of the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra. I continue research in scientific studies and genealogy, and pursue interests in international folk dance, ballroom dance, and travel.

The Nordic Project is performing its bi-annual check-in with our project members. You are receiving this message, because we have not heard from you since you joined the Nordic Project.
We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. If you have not yet joined a team, please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Nordic_Project_-_Country_Sub-Projects
We are close to launching our new Nordic Trail. The Nordic Trail will be focusing on our new project members. We will be teaching them the core skills needed to contribute to the Nordic Project's goals – which are to make every Nordic profile the best it can be. We are looking for Trail Guides to guide the Explorers through the Nordic Trail. We need guides for each Nordic country before we can begin the Trail. If you feel you can help by becoming a guide, please contact Missy with the country or countries in which you would be able to guide. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Nordic_Project_-_Nordic_Trail_Team
We thank you for all you do to help the Nordic Project and are a bit curious about how you recently have been contributing to the project mission and goals. We are asking because it would to help us gauge our success and address our weaknesses. On behalf of the project, we would really appreciate it if you would take the time to respond by emailing Missy directly. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Missy Berryann and T.L. Koehnline Co-Leaders, The Nordic Project

Thanks for all the work you accomplished during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree. You have every right to be pleased with your efforts!
Kind regards,
Pippin Sheppard ~ WikiTree’s Appreciation Team
Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!
Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.
Have questions? Let me know by using the "reply" link under my comments or by clicking my name to visit my profile. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message.
Karen ~ Pre-1700 Greeter
Thank you for your welcome message for my self-certification of the Pre-1700. I have tried to read a lot of the material you recommended, but am still now sure how to proceed.
My interest, at the moment, is that I have a Dutch ancestor, Adam Bauman, born 1795, and of course I am trying to locate, his parents, etc. He is one of my brick walls. But it is certainly possible that his ancestors arrived in the wave of Dutch settlers from the 1600s, so I thought it would be prudent for me to have an understanding of the research in that earlier period.
I am not sure whether to join one of the projects, or to continue research on my own. Although, resources are limited at the moment as, like everyone else, I am homebound with only the internet.
Maybe you could point me in the right direction. That would be appreciated.
Wayne
Joining the projects is not essential, but we do recommend them, it is entirely up to you if you wish to do so. One other suggestion is to post a message in our G2G Forum, our members can be very helpful in finding missing information, hopefully one or more of them will be able to help you, you may even find some new cousins that you never knew you had :-). The Dutch roots project may also be able to help you and point you in the right direction to where to look
I hope this helps, any problems please let me know
Take care Karen

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!
I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.
Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger
PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
You are now a full member of the WikiTree community. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Start with the New Member How-To pages they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around.
Take your time, and let me know if you need any help using the site.
Carole ~ WikiTree Greeter
P.S. If you get error messages when you click links from WikiTree emails, try the links from your profile page.
This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.
To contact me, click the link to my name above, then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.
Shirley ~ WikiTree Greeter
P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
