It's time for our annual Scotland Project check-in!

This year we are hoping to learn what our membership would like to accomplish over the next 12 months. In case you aren't aware, this year is WikiTree's "Year of Connections" and the Project's leadership would like to contribute to this in as many ways as possible.

We would appreciate it if you would share your thoughts and ideas with us on how we can accomplish this goal. We would also appreciate it if you would provide some feedback on our existing goals, including:

• If you have not yet signed up to help on one of the project's teams, which team(s) would you be interested in joining?
• How often should we provide a Project Newsletter?
• Have you participated in the Tartan Trail? If not, is this something you'd be interested in doing?
• Do you have a question(s) that we could add to a Frequently Asked Questions page?
• Any suggestions or ideas you have on ways to improve the Scotland Project in general

We continue to communicate with our Project members via Google Group (official) and Discord (unofficial), as well as G2G. You may also reach out to any of the Project leaders via WikiTree's internal messaging system at any time.

Hello Robin! I show that you have Brownlees somewhere in your tree. I wonder if you also show Hamiltons in your tree? I checked your GED match and we share 12 segments and a total of 46cM. I'm trying to connect the dots between my Hamiltons who lived on Torfoot Farm, Lanarkshire, Scotland to the Brownlees. From what I can tell, I match all Brownlee descendants, though I have the biggest match with you! Would love to chat and compare if you can. Scotland Project Leaders check in with you at least once a year to see how you are doing. With the changes happening around the world, we understand that life is hectic right now.

What are you planning to work on for the Scotland Project this year? Are you happy with the team(s) you part of, or would you like to make some changes?

This time round, we’re also looking for feedback on the use of Google Group and Discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way to ensure you receive Project communications? If you would like to join us on Google Group or Discord, let us know in your response.

One of the requirements of membership in the England Project is that you respond to the six-monthly check-ins.

I have assumed that you are no longer participating in the England Project and removed you from our list of members. You are, of course, most welcome to re-apply to join the project at any time by signing-up on the project’s G2G welcome post.

Hi Robin,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around.

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Hi Robin,

Your England Leaders are completing the six monthly check in with all team members. I wanted to thank you for your work on English Profiles and particularly your work in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. These are unprecedented and difficult times, and we understand as Project Leaders that your situation may have changed somewhat in the last few months. What we are all able to/ wish to contribute on Wikitree has changed. Please let me know if you are happy with your current role and team choice or if you wish to do something additional or different. Thank you so much for the interesting biography of Anna Dixey (Landlady Judkin)! She is my 8th great-grandmother and I had been wanting to know more about her! The childhood family stories I was told made her out to be quite a colorful lady!

Hi Robin,

In regards to Anne of Kiev, her birth location is in Old East Slavic, not Russian, as it would have been the language in use at the time. Considering that OES is an archaic form of Russian, it isn't likely that google translate would work irregardless of whether you're on Mac or not :)

Just looked at your tree... my husband's mother was from Newmilns! Was there, myself, to visit her parents in the 1970s. Small, small world.

I have zero concerns about your editing any Layfield profiles. I am disconnecting from them, so you can take over.

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.
