Convicts After the Third Fleet
Foster Anderson was sentenced for stealing yarn and received 7 years Transportation. He is shown as 16 in the list of male convicts who arrived in Sydney on 22nd January, 1835 aboard the "Royal Admiral". He was literate and had been a tailor's boy, was 5 feet 5 inches (162 cms) with a brown complexion which was a little 'pockpitted', brown hair and grey eyes. Foster also bore several scars on his hands. On October 18, 1840, Foster received his Certificate of Freedom where his trade was given as Tailor. That same year he married Mary Nash at St. Andrews church, Sydney. The couple lived in Kent Street and Pitt Street, Sydney where Foster worked as a tailor. He was eligible to vote in the Sydney Council Elections in 1842. By January, 1844, The family were living in Botany Road and his occupation varies on his children's baptismal records as being that of a farmer or a tailor. Foster's first wife, Mary, died in 1855 and he married Sarah Rorke in 1856. By her he had two more children. Foster's mother was also transported for stealing a goose on the "Caroline" 1833
