Biography

Ida was born in 1880, the daughter of Simeon Althouse and Esther Alcock.

Ida Annie Althouse was born on March 20, 1880, to Simeon Elgin Althouse, farmer, and Esther E. Alcock, of Saltfleet Township, Wentworth County, Ontario.

She married William Sheldrake in 1897. Their marriage record reads:

William Sheldrake, 22, residing in the Township of Saltfleet, born in Canada, bachelor, farmer, son of Robert Sheldrake and Abigail Sheldrake, married

Ida Althouse, 18, residing in the Township of Saltfleet, born in Canada, spinster, daughter of Elgin Althouse and Esther Althouse,

Witnesses: William Tweedle, and Laura Althouse, both of Saltfleet,

On October 3, 1897, at Tweedside, Ontario.

Together they had the following children:

1. Grace, born October, 17, 1898
2. Edna, born January 8, 1900
3. Erland R., born March 8, 1901

Ida died in 1949.

She was buried at Fulton Stone United Church Cemetery, in Smithville, Ontario.
