Biography

Hugh's birth was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1870 in the Reading district, Berkshire. HIs mother's maiden name was Stevens.^[1]

In the 1881 census Hough (age 11), Scholar, was the son of John H Allen at 9 The Mount, Southern Hill, Reading St Giles, Berkshire, England.^[3]

In the 1891 census Hugh (age 21), Organist teacher master, was a single lodger on Orchard Street, Chichester, Sussex, England.^[4]

In the 1901 census Hugh (age 31), Organist, was the single visitor of Richard Henry Pring in The Vicarage, Marton, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England.^[5]

In the 1911 census Hugh (age 41), Organist, was a married boarder in Grosvenor Hotel, Eastgate Street, Chester, Cheshire, England.^[6]
