Elizabeth Ann Allen was born in 1812 in Madison, Mississippi, daughter of William Hodges Allen (1789–1837) and Mary Morgan (~1790–~1850).^[1]

Elizabeth (17) married Josiah Joseph Herod (22) (born in 1807 in Stewart, Tennessee, United States; son of James Herod and Elizabeth (McCarty) Herod) on October 13, 1830 in Madison. Their son was Newton Starr Herod (1846–1923).

Elizabeth died about 1870 in Grapeland, Houston County, Texas, United States, aged about 57. She was buried in Josiah Herod Cemetery, Houston County, Texas.^{[2] [1]}
