Howard Allen, known as "Pistol" was a musician, most notable as a Motown session drummer with The Funk Brothers.
Pistol was born August 12, 1932, in Memphis, Tennessee[1][2]
He moved to Detroit from Memphis and became notable as the drummer for the Funk Brothers who were the studio musicians for Motown. Pistol played drums on many of Motown's hits.
According to the movie "Standing In The Shadow of Mowtown" “They played on more # 1 records than the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones, and Elvis Presley combined” [3]

And many more Pistol was active professionally from 1959 until 2002 when he passed away on June 30, 2002 [11]
He passed away in 2002.
