Biography
Gilbert was a Friend (Quaker)
Gilbert was the son of James Allen and Sarah Howland. His birth on 22 June 1793 was recorded in the records of Dartmouth Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends, Massachusetts.[1]
He married Eliza W. Barney on 15 Feb 1817.[2]
