Positive result. Pathogenic variant identified in MSH6.
The MSH6 gene is associated with autosomal dominant Lynch syndrome (also called hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer syndrome, or HNPCC) (MedGen UID: 318886) and autosomal recessive constitutional mismatch repair deficiency syndrome (CMMR-D) (MedGen UID: 78553).
This result is consistent with a predisposition to, or diagnosis of, autosomal dominant MSH6-related conditions such as:
Increased risk of colorectal cancer
Cancers of the endometrium, ovary, stomach, small intestine, hepatobiliary tract, urinary tract, and brain (PMID: 8550246, 20533284).
Close relatives (children, siblings, and each parent) have up to a 50% chance of being a carrier of this variant. More distant relatives may also be carriers. Carriers are at increased risk of developing autosomal dominant MSH6-related conditions and may have reproductive risks related to autosomal recessive MSH6-related conditions as well. Testing for this variant is available.
Variant of Uncertain Significance identified in BRCA1.
Previous analysis performed at a different laboratory reportedly identified a variant in BRCA1,c.3383T>C (p.Leu1128Pro), in this individual. This variant is detected in this individual and is classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance at Invitae.
The BRCA1 gene is associated with autosomal dominant hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) syndrome (MedGen UID: 151793). • The clinical significance of this variant is uncertain at this time. Until this uncertainty can be resolved, caution should be exercised before using this result to inform clinical management decisions

WikiTree has excellent privacy controls, but that won’t protect you and your family if you publish your personal information or the information of your living family members in your biography, Communications section, or on the profiles of others.

Thank your kind for help with Thomas Cirby and Elizabeth Falconer. I've corrected the spelling of Thomas' last name on WikiTree and Ancestry.com and used dates from the sources you sent to update births, marriage, etc.

Hi Thomas I'm assuming your are talking about the David A Baer who was born August 22, 1856 in Goodland Township, Lapeer County, Michigan, and who died August 22, 1856, at the State Hospital in Goodland Township, Lapeer County, Michigan? He is my 3rd great Uncle. His father Abraham is my 3rd great grandfather. Did I get the correct David A. Baer?
So if I get this right then Abraham is your 4th great grandfather and our shared relative.
Happy to meet you Cousin. :)
Debbie, I thought at first that your Christian Witmer 1792-1840 was the brother of my ancestor David Martin Witmer (1797-1876) who were sons of a Christian Witmer (1760?-1810ish). However, he looks to be someone completely different -- different wife for one (although many of these folks had successive spouses). Anyway, I'm related to a bunch of Witmers, Martins, Herrs, etc. from Lancaster Co., PA and your Christian Witmer is likely some sort of relative to me -- just not sure how at the moment. I'm really looking for more information on my ancestor Christian Witmer (1760-1810ish) who married Barbara Groff Martin (1768-?). If you run across any concrete information on them, let me know. Thanks. -- Tom Todd, Saline, MI
Hi Thomas, I didn't even realize this area existed, so sorry it's 3 years later and I'm finally seeing your post.
Yup looks like your Christian Witmer is a different one, but I am also related to your Christian Witmer. I have a tree on Geni.com and here is what it says my relationship to your David Martin Witmer is: David Martin WITMER is your third cousin five times removed and below is the path:
You → Hugh Albert ALLEN, Jr. my father
→ Arivella Baer-Allen-Harms his mother
→ Chauncey Samuel BAER her father
→ George Allen BAER his father
→ Abraham (Abram) G. Baer his father
→ Rev. Martin Treichler BAER, Sr his father
→ Catherine BAER (Treichler) his mother
→ Anna Maria Barbara TREICHLER (Strickler) her mother
→ Katrina Dorothea SCHALLENBERGER (Strickler) her sister
→ Maria Strickler WITMER (Schallenberger) her daughter
→ Christian Schallenberger WITMER her son
→ David Martin WITMER his son
In addition David Martin WITMER's third great grandfather is the The Bishop Hans Herr whom is my 9th great grandfather. A shared Great Grandfather. So if you are a Grandchild of David Martin Witmer I'd say we are most probably related. :)

Looks like David's brother George is your second great-grandfather. WikiTree says we are fourth cousins once removed.
So if I get this right then Abraham is your 4th great grandfather and our shared relative. Happy to meet you Cousin. :)
