Biography

James was born in 1838.

He was supposed to have been a school teacher. (Census lists him as a farmer) His parents were James F. Allen and Winnie Terrill. James F. Allen lived in Garrard County, Kentucky before moving to Marion County, Missouri. Their birth and death dates are unknown.

From Ancestry.com: The Palmyra Spectator newspaper, Wednesday, May 6, 1914, Page 1, J.M. Allen, a well-known citizen of Philadelphia, died at his home there Saturday night, and his funeral occurred Monday morning. He was in his 75th year.

From Find a Grave website: Death certificate died Union Township, age 76 years, 2 months and 1 day, retired farmer, married, parents were James Allen and Winnie r. Terrill both born in Kentucky.

Buried at Philadelphia Cemetery, Philadelphia, Marion County, Missouri.
