Maybelle was born in 1907,^[1] the third of nine children to James Wiley Alexander and Martha Alice Baker. Her siblings were: Mary Jane, William Rex, Rosa Lee, Ethel Louvenia, Lassie Lorene, Sylvia Katherine, James W and Martha R.
