Biography
TEC 5 Loring Alderton served in the United States Army in World War II Service started: 1942 Unit(s): Company A, 11th Regt. 5th Infantry Division Service ended: MIA, 1945
Loring was the son of Charles Alderton and his wife, Nellie Haymaker. He was born in West Virginia and grew up in a large family. [1][2]
Tec5 Alderton served with A Company, 11th Regt. 5th Infantry Division during World War II. [3] He went Missing in Action while being evacuated back across the Sauer river to the 1st Battalion Aid station, by boa,t near Echternach, Luxembourg. The boat capsized, the water was swift. Alderton could not swim and it is presumed that he drowned in the river. His name is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at Luxembourg American Cemetery.[4]
