Celestia C. Alden was the daughter of Amasa Alden and Eliza P. B. (Austin) Alden of Livermore, Maine.[1] In the 1850 Census, she is shown as 20 years old,[2] and the 1900 Census says she was born in March 1830.[3] Her death certificate gives her birth date as 31 Mar 1830 and her birthplace as Canton, Maine.[4]
Marriages
On 14 Jun 1854, Celestia Alden and Lucius Haywood, both of Lewiston, Maine, published at Lewiston their intention to marry.[5]
Celestia (Alden) Haywood and Henry W. Ripley, both of Paris, Maine, married at Norway, Maine, on 17 Sep 1859.[6]
Children
The 1900 Census says that Celestia Ripley was the mother of two children, both of whom were then living.[3] Those children were:
Frank C. Haywood, who was 25 years, living with his mother Celestia Ripley at Livermore, Maine, in 1880,[7] and whose birth date is shown as March 1855 in the 1900 Census[8]
Twice widowed, and more than 48 years after the death of her second husband, Celestia (Alden) (Haywood) Ripley died of carcinoma of the intestines at Watertown, Massachusetts, on 12 Jan 1813, with her age at her death reported as 82 years, 9 months, 12 days.[4]
