David Donald Albritton was an American athlete, teacher, coach, and state legislator. He was one of the first high jumpers to use the straddle technique.^[1]

David Donald Albritton was born in Danville, Alabama. He was the son of Peter Albritton and Josephine Hutchinson.^[2]

He married Margaret Ann Holiday on 23 November 1937 in Highland County, Ohio.^[3][4]

Dave won the silver medal in high jump at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. He began working as a civilian defense worker at Dayton's Wright Field in 1941, later working as a teacher and track coach at Dunbar high school. In 1960, he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the then-85th district. In 1967 his district became the 34th district. He also owned the David D. Albritton Insurance Agency for decades.^[5]

He died on 14 May 1994 in Dayton, Ohio.^[6][7] He was buried at Woodland Cemetery.^[8]
