Beatrice Clementina Aitchison (1864-1902) was born in Simla, India on 13 Mar 1864 and christened in Simla on the 15th May 1864. She was the daughter of Charles Umpherston Aitchison and Beatrice Lyell Cox (the christening register has her and her father's middle names mis-spelled).

In 1871, Beatrice & a couple of her sisters are back in Scotland with their grandmother in Lasswade, Midlothian shown as scholars.

In 1881, although her father was still in the Bengal Civil Service, he was home on a long furlough and they were living at Manor Place, Edinburgh.

Beatrice married on the 9th August 1887 at St Thomas, Edinburgh, Midlothian.

She spent a few years in India with her husband, who was attached to the India Staff Corps and they had 2 daughters.
Sometime before 1901, they returned to England and were living with her mother, now widowed and 2 of her sisters at Banbury Road, Summertown in north Oxford.
