Biography
Florence (Adkins) Charity is a part of US Black heritage.
Florence was born November 14, 1926 in Richmond, Henrico, Virginia, United States. Her parents were Pleasant Wesley Adkins and Lucy Elizabeth (Woodson) Adkins.[1]
In 1930, Florence (age 3) lived on Kingsland Road in Varina, Henrico, Virginia, United States with her father Pleasant (shown as Pleasent, age 51), mother Lucy (age 45), and siblings Richard (age 16), Welford (age 14), Francis (age 11), James (age 9), and Sarah (age 8). Her father was a laborer on county roads.[2]
In 1940, the family's last name was incorrectly shown as Atkins. Florence (age 13) lived on Kingsland Road in Varina, Henrico, Virginia, United States with her father Pleasant (shown as Pleasent, age 61), mother Lucy (age 55), and siblings Warren (age 20), Pleasent (age 22), and Sarah (age 17). Her father was a farmer and her brothers Warren and Pleasent were farm laborers.[3]

In 1950, Welton (age 31) and Florence (age 23) lived in Harrison, Charles City, Virginia, United States. Welton was a truck driver for a box factory.[5]
Florence lived in Charles City, Virginia, United States when she died December 22, 2001.[6] Her obituary was published December 26, 2001 in the Richmond Times-Dispatch[7] and she was buried at the Gilfield Baptist Church in Montpelier, Charles City, Virginia, United States.[8]
