Biography

Charles was born February 15, 1872, in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts to parents William Adams, a "fancy goods dealer" born in Derry, New Hampshire, and his wife Adelia, who according to this record was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts.^[1] He grew up in East Cambridge with his parents, sister Helen, and maternal grandparents and uncle.^[2]

The 1900 US Census of Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts finds this Charles (at the age of 28yrs old and occupation given as a salesman of music, born in Massachusetts in February of 1872) living in Cambridge, on Summer St. in the household of his 61yr old father William R. Adams, his 54yr old mother "Adlia" (sic) A., his 32yr old sister, Helen G. and a 29yr old female servant, Mary J. Parks.^[3] However, by 1910, he married Pauline L. Guy, and the couple lived in Somerville with her aunt Harriet Elwin.^[4] Charles worked as a sporting goods salesman.

In 1920, the couple still lived in Somerville, Charles continuing to work in sporting goods.^[5] However, during the 1930s, the couple moved to East Derry, New Hampshire, where Pauline passed away in 1930.^[6] In the 1930 US Census, Charles, widowed, lived in East Derry and worked as a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman.^[7]

He took his own life in 1937.^[8] He was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry.^[9]
