Early Life

When Bertha Alice Adams was born on November 6, 1927, in Milton, Florida, her father, Proctor Adams, was 24, and her mother, Magdalena "Lena" Booker, was 28. She was the youngest of three children.

When she was three years old, her family lived in rural Milton, Santa Rosa, Florida. Her father worked as a laborer doing odd jobs. ^[1] By 1935, not much had changed ^[2], but shortly thereafter, the family moved to Brownsville, Escambia county, where her father worked as a laborer at the Navy Base. ^[3]

In the beginning of 1945, Bertha still lived at home with her parents in Brownsville, on T Street. Her father worked as a checker and she worked as a phone operator. ^[4]

Marriage and Family

William Houston Crooke

On 09 May 1945, William Crooke married Bertha Adams in Pensacola, Florida. ^[5] They married in her parents house on G Street.^[6]

In 1952, he and Bertha lived on 2503 W. Yonge Street and he worked as a salesman. ^[7]

In 1955, the couple lived in the same place, and he worked as a foreman at Bordon's Dairy. ^[8]

Their marriage ended in divorce in January 1957. They had three sons together. ^[9] However, they remarried again at some point (still searching for record), and later divorced again in May of 1959. ^[10]

Ronald Francis Kramek

At some point, she married Ronald Kramek. They lived in Pensacola, Florida and Milton, Florida during their marriage, which ended when Ronald passed away in November 1991.

Social and Community

In 1956, she became the president of the PBX Club. ^[11]
